‘THE FOOTY SHOW’ furore- Nine’s flagship program beaten at own game’

Mediator Mick Gatto was asked to talk to Channel 9’s The Footy Show exclusively regarding his role in the Essendon supplements saga by friend Sam Newman.

GATTO asked Newman to join him for lunch at a Lygon st restaurant Villa Romana, owned by Gatto friend and fellow mediator John Khoury, where they would discuss Gatto’s involvement.

Camera’s began rolling, all was quiet, as ‘Big Mick’ spoke exclusively to The Footy Show in what would’ve been a huge coup for the first show of the AFL season in 2017.

But our cameras were also rolling as the high profile pair spoke of the 4 year affair involving the red and blackened their alleged involvement in sport’s blackest day.

The Herald Sun’s sleuth’s called asking if #15Minutesoffame was in fact inside the room with vision of the exchange.

And we were.

The Herald Sun broadcast the footage which validated that day’s story on the Herald Sun front page and in turn being Nine to the punch.

Nine’s Newman was rope-able. He was under the impression the story was an exclusive for The Footy Show.

And this ‘channel’ copped an almighty spray.

Whether you think we behaved in a certain matter is a decision for each and every one of you, but we will defend our decision and our Managing Director labeled a ‘piece of shit’ on national television is out of line.

Check out the footage which caused consternation across the country
